Wishing it wasn't over yet

I hope the learning curve is over for using Slide, recommended by niece who blogged her school year in Germany, and I can move on. I also found out I am not very good at managing two screens at once. I try to control everything with one mouse. Tee hee. And I didn't do it just once either.

So here is a slide show of the fall colors--the reason we went to Colorado.

But I also got history

and Mining

and Antiques

and Wildlife
it's a bird if you look hard
a bobcat's ear

a little Snow some snow flurries blowing in

and lots of Geology
"...I thank Him reverently For all His creation of which I am part. Yes, I know Heavenly Father loves me." "My Heavenly Father Loves Me" Children's Songbook #228.

Ben loves to get out and drive on the open road. I like to see what is around the corner or on the other side of the mountain. These vacations are perfect for us. We are not ready to be home. We even looked at Maui and a Harley ride on the Hana Hwy for tomorrow. The flights are not promising, so that is out. DC? Seattle? Salt Lake City? I go back to work on Monday; Ben's vacation is over Tuesday. We have made the most of this time, since our work week schedule allows us 5 minutes in the morning to see each other. Thank goodness for cell phones and ear buds for hands free calls so that we may connect as I drive home in the afternoon.

I looked at the towns along the road. There are many large homes and lodge looking things. And not so many people. Are these vacation homes and timeshare? And I must say that I have never seen a ski resort without hundreds of condos and resorts around it (I think of Park City). No where did I think I was way out yonder away from it all.

I guess I don't get resorts. I have friends who love Durango, for example. It was cute. And there were shops, and restaurants and watering holes. But those are everywhere. I don't think I could sit still. Hawaii was camping and hiking for us. I can't imagine sitting on a beach for a week with a drink in my hand or no drink even. Vacations are for doing. Do I know how to just sit?

Dad took us camping on the desert or in the mountains or brought us to AZ to visit family for vacations. When did I do the "family vacation" like I see in the advertisements? In 2001 (it took awhile to remember.) Miles was going to be a senior. We took everyone to Disneyland for 3 days. Miles was done in 1.5 days. He took pictures of bad hair (everyone got a camera to take pictures).

Camping sure is cheaper. Thanks to Ben for all the hours sweating on the ramp, loading all those tourists' bags so I can do more than camp if I want to.
