busy
overload
so relax. do nothing saturday. temple worship. follow blogs. dinner with friends.
dance I want to dance. just shake and sway to music and let the tension go...
wandering thru videos, utube, monkeysee
bellydance, plaza de anaya, inside the bungalow-that's yoga, then on to hula lindy strawberry koi
i have wanted to learn hula, forever, and belly dance since 1993
on hold
like drawing and art classes
what about music history, art history, fusion of philosophy, science advances, architecture styles and renaissance and...what is a doric column what makes it so...
seasons in life
time will come
when it is time to make time
2 adult children moving on
Navy sailor, challenge, find out what he's made of
he's a Flake
there is a core of steel
the wanderer
on the move again
looking, ever looking
running
and carrying the baggage along
the quiet one
across the continent
ties i can still feel
is he content in his awayness
looking for himself
her
battling fear
demons keep calling
seeking help
one foot in one foot out
looking ahead, holding on
wanting
the quiet of a sunday
promises of healing
restorative
strength for another round
one more day
one more step
the beat is calling
the music is playing
one more dance

Wash the Lotion
Just over a year ago. Ulta Beauty supply opened up near me. Never had heard of them before, but since they were offering freebies and a chance at $100 gift certificate, I went to the Grand Opening.
I like pretty smelly stuff as much as the next girl, so I chose out a few promising scents in body lotions in Ulta brand "buy 2, get 1 deals and the freebies.
One of those intriguing scents was coconut lime. So I started using it. Eventually.
Although I liked the smell of the creamy concoction, it was really sticky. Really left my skin tacky. And that can be a problem. Hubby doesn't like the feel of regular lotion on my skin. When we met at the dance, he confessed that, sometimes, after dancing with some women, he would go wash his hands because they had slathered so much lotion on their hands, it had transferred to his. Even now, it is a sacrifice for him to use lotion to give me a back rub.
I gave up on the stuff, the coconut lime lotion, and went back to something else that leaves a lighter and less tacky coat.
On Friday, I wanted a little moisturizing on my feet as I was going to wear flats and the little slipper socks. I thought about the coconut lime lotion and thought the tackiness would be OK this time since, sometimes, the sockies slip off the heel and bunch up.
After the application, sure enough, my hands were feeling pretty gross. So I went back in to wash them.
With the water running over my fingers, I noticed something peculiar in the basin. Bubbles. Foamy, light, delicate. Definitely bubbles. The strangest lotion yet.
And then I reached up to look again. And even without my readers, I could see that Body Lotion was spelled "B-o-d-y W-A-S-H".
Grimacing at losing time, but smiling and chuckling at myself, feeling silly, I removed my shoes and socks, balanced and lifted each foot, in turn, to the basin and rinsed it off. Dried off the now pleasantly smelling feet and put the REAL coconut lime lotion on. (It was in the travel size tube that I ignored because I don't like how coconut lime "lotion" feels.)
Hubby is groggy when I leave in the morning and wouldn't quite appreciate the story right then, so I shared with car pool buddy on the way into work.
Daughter and I laughed hard over it when I got home to tell her the story. She actually shook her head at me.
On the to-do list for the week is a pair of readers from the dollar store to keep in the bathroom.

I am not even close to being ready to go back to school. It's getting worse.
I finished some more painting touch-ups that were started in June. I realized at that time that I really have a hard time with the tedious prep and clean up. I want to do the job--just paint and be done. No taping off or anything like that, which of course are necessary if one wants it to look half way decent. So, I get to exercise patience. Again. Maybe some day I'll have some.
I got to babysit Alessandra this morning. I had fun. I think she did too. We took a walk and played on the minuscule hill. We read a couple of books. And played with a new toy that Grandma had brought over, stacking cups. Then it was naptime, for both of us. She got to, but I had to wait a while. Alessandra is my niece, is nearly 17 months old, and is tri-lingual right now. Some signing so Mommy knows what she needs, English, and Spanish. She will be brilliant, of course, like the rest of them.
I'm ready for a Sunday.

Thursday night's post
The internet kept going out on us last night, and I don't think I am supposed to try to put so many pictures on; I spent over 2 hours working at it. If that is the norm, I won't be posting so much--I don't have that time when school in in.
Life is good. A question on an email got my attention, "How do you vent anger?" I don't know anymore. I really don't like being angry. I have worked hard to manage frustration and fear so it doesn't go to anger level. I am trying to remember what gets me going. What is worth losing my cool, my peace of mind and the Spirit over? No hardly much.
OK, I thought of a situation. Sometimes bureaucracy at school can get me going.
And worry and fear for my kids. They are trying to find their way.
Faith versus fear. Net faith=your faith - your doubts and fears. Someone said that last weekend in General Conference. I'll have to look it up.
Life is beautiful. I'm very blessed.
And the internet connection has maintained.

Wishing it wasn't over yet
I hope the learning curve is over for using Slide, recommended by niece who blogged her school year in Germany, and I can move on. I also found out I am not very good at managing two screens at once. I try to control everything with one mouse. Tee hee. And I didn't do it just once either.
So here is a slide show of the fall colors--the reason we went to Colorado.
But I also got history

and Mining

and Antiques

and Wildlife

it's a bird if you look hard
a bobcat's ear
a little Snow

some snow flurries blowing in
and lots of Geology

"...I thank Him reverently For all His creation of which I am part. Yes, I know Heavenly Father loves me." "My Heavenly Father Loves Me" Children's Songbook #228.
Ben loves to get out and drive on the open road. I like to see what is around the corner or on the other side of the mountain. These vacations are perfect for us. We are not ready to be home. We even looked at Maui and a Harley ride on the Hana Hwy for tomorrow. The flights are not promising, so that is out. DC? Seattle? Salt Lake City? I go back to work on Monday; Ben's vacation is over Tuesday. We have made the most of this time, since our work week schedule allows us 5 minutes in the morning to see each other. Thank goodness for cell phones and ear buds for hands free calls so that we may connect as I drive home in the afternoon.
I looked at the towns along the road. There are many large homes and lodge looking things. And not so many people. Are these vacation homes and timeshare? And I must say that I have never seen a ski resort without hundreds of condos and resorts around it (I think of Park City). No where did I think I was way out yonder away from it all.
I guess I don't get resorts. I have friends who love Durango, for example. It was cute. And there were shops, and restaurants and watering holes. But those are everywhere. I don't think I could sit still. Hawaii was camping and hiking for us. I can't imagine sitting on a beach for a week with a drink in my hand or no drink even. Vacations are for doing. Do I know how to just sit?
Dad took us camping on the desert or in the mountains or brought us to AZ to visit family for vacations. When did I do the "family vacation" like I see in the advertisements? In 2001 (it took awhile to remember.) Miles was going to be a senior. We took everyone to Disneyland for 3 days. Miles was done in 1.5 days. He took pictures of bad hair (everyone got a camera to take pictures).
Camping sure is cheaper. Thanks to Ben for all the hours sweating on the ramp, loading all those tourists' bags so I can do more than camp if I want to.

Day 2, support the state of Colorado or Montrose to Pagosa Springs
The picture are not loading well, so I will hold off until I have better/faster connection.
We followed the Silver Thread from Montrose to Pagosa Springs. The mule deer were not worried. Black Canyon is amazing. It's (Hwy 149) a tribute to the tenacity of miners and early explorers to imagine moving through those mountains and passes on horseback and with a pack train. Wolf Creek Pass was as impressive as Ben bragged. One of his favorite trucking stories involves the view from Wolf Creek Pass.
Going down to the East Portal on the Gunnison River, we saw an animal moved along the side of the road and up the embankment. I saw color and thought fox. But when it turned into the bush...LYNX. I got pictures this time (as opposed to the mountain lion sighting on the road coming out of Honeymoon Campground).
We will be contributing to the great state of Colorado for rushing through the beautiful scenery and not taking enough time to enjoy the drive from Wolf Creek Pass to Pagosa Springs.
Back to Durango in the morning and try to get the one seat on the airline, and a faster internet connection for the rest of the fall colors, geology, and one lynx pictures.
